Loved being part of Emily & James wedding at the stunning ‘The West Mill’ in Derby. Can’t begin to say what a really warm and lovely couple these guys and they had a wedding day to match.

Really nice review from the couple 🙂

After a quick search online we found Mr & Mrs Boutique photography and instantly fell in love with Craig’s photography style. The website featured some beautiful photos and we loved how natural and organic they were. The photos manage to capture a vintage charm but with a modern and contemporary twist. We arranged to meet Craig and discussed our wedding plans, venue and requirements and we were also able to view his portfolio. Craig is such a friendly and approachable person and we just knew that he was the photographer for us.

On the day Craig was fantastic, it just felt like he was a guest. He was unobtrusive and just blended into our guests seamlessly, all the while taking lots of photos and gathering video content for our mini film. We loved Craig’s artistic flair and had lots of fun finding perfect locations for pictures. We knew that Craig had taken some fantastic shots!

When we received the full collection, we were blown away. Craig captured the day perfectly and looking through we were able to re-live the whole day. We could not be happier and can’t wait to see the mini film.
We can’t recommend Craig enough.

Thank you so much,
Emily and James

Mini-film

Wedding film crafted using a mix of 8mm film, digital and stop-frame photos from the day. Filmed alongside the photography by Craig. An alternative to a full wedding film.

Your Love Story? How did you meet, the proposal!

We met on James‘ 18th birthday through a mutual friend in our hometown of Watford. we went long distance through University and James‘ additional year paired with Emily becoming a Flight Attendant for BA. After all studies were finished we moved to Sheffield.

James proposed in Central Park, NY, on valentines day; the coldest New York valentines day on record with a high of -8oC. so cold in fact Emily‘s drink had started to freeze in its bottle as we walked to central park from our hotel.

What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

We wanted the decor to be natural and elegant with a slightly vintage feel. We went for blush pink antique roses, eucalyptus, white veronica and there was Lilly of the valley in the bouquets and the mother of the brides’ corsage. Lilly of the valley was my Nan’s favourite flower and it was a lovely way of making her part of the day.

We had a gorgeous backdrop behind the ceremony table. Debbie created the backdrop using hessian ribbon (some of which she sprayed with a gorgeous copper colour)  with single stem roses woven through.

Our favour bags were also made of hessian and were filled with mini eggs (James volunteered to do the favours whilst testing many eggs for quality control!) and they were finished with a luggage name tag (written by my talented sister).

The table numbers were laser cut using wood and inserted into the copper coloured crackle vases filled with gorgeous flowers.

Everything tied in really well and had quite a natural feel whilst incorporating the copper accents from the Mil.

Did you do any DIY projects?

we made the favors and our bridesmaid, Rachel, did all the wedding stationary, table plan etc

James also used the wedding as an excuse to buy a classic motorbike which he arrived on, this wasn’t running when he bought it.

Tell us about the details… Flowers, Cake, your dress etc!

I found it quite difficult to choose my wedding dress. There is so much choice out there and so many different styles. I had seen the ‘Beckett’dress on a mannequin and thought it looked beautiful and had a lovely vintage feel with the beading and lace. I almost talked myself out of trying it on as I thought it was more suited to someone who was very slim and petite. I tried it on, and to my surprise, I fell in love with it. I’m now thinking of excuses to wear it again!

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Aside from the important act of actually getting married, the band were so, so good!!! Emily‘s friends spoke to them and arranged for her to sing  Proud Mary by Tina Turner which really got everyone on the dance floor.

Also, some great photos in Craig’s previews

Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

BEST DAY EVER

Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?

don’t sweat the small stuff, it’ll all come together on the day. have trust in the team at the West Mill to put everything together.
