This was such an ace wedding, really great couple, beautiful venue, great crowd and an amazing sunset to top it off! I’d done a styled shoot at Deighton Lodge previously but this my first wedding there and it’s a wonderful venue. I captured Amy & Richards day in photography & with a wedding film, using 8mm film & HD digital.
Deighton Lodge Wedding Film
Where was your wedding?: We married at St Helen’s Church in Wheldrake and then held our reception at Deighton Lodge.
Best part of your day?: Having everyone we love and care about in one place and having them there to help us celebrate. We had friends from all over the UK and world come to join us, in fact, you captured the moment on the aisle when I spotted my friend Paul who’d flown over from Australia and hadn’t seen in years! Even seeing that picture now makes me well up.
Any songs that stick out from the dance floor/wedding day?: For me personally it was walking down the aisle to the instrumental of Ellie Goulding ‘The Writer’
Not long after we got together Richard went travelling around the world and I listened to it pretty much on repeat while he was away and so I wanted to walk down the aisle it…it was a little moment, just for me on the day….a mini high five to myself if you will!
‘9 – 5’ Dolly Parton, half way through the evening the band started playing it and I got up and sang with them, its my favourite song to sing and so that was amazing, also ‘Freed from Desire’ Richard and his friends are all Wigan Athletic fans and they sing a version of this at games and so when this came on it caused a nice bit of chaos on the dance floor!
About Mr & Mrs Wedding Photography?: You were amazing on the day, we barely even realised you were around and yet you have captured so many special moments! I have admired your wedding photography for a long time and like the natural style of your picture taking, which has been reflected in our album beautifully. Instead of stifled and forced family group shots we have some really great personal images; the ones you caught of me with my Nana are amongst my favourites, you’ve captured my relationship with her brilliantly. Also, the shots you got of Richard’s family dog Sasha, she passed away not long after the wedding and so to have those pictures and videos are an amazing way to remember her by!
I really liked how you’d come and grab us if the light in a space was great, or you thought a particular wall would make a great shot. It has paid off and we have had so many compliments on the pictures since.
Any advice to future brides?: It sounds so cliche but I’d say relax and enjoy it. Have faith in the people there on the day who are working to make it the best day possible and leave it up to them to do the very best that they can. We did and we got photographs and a video beyond what we could have ever imagined! Its amazing looking back at everything as you have pictured and videoed moments we just didn’t get to see, mainly half our wedding guests mastering the ‘floss’ dance!
